A Gambler’s Deal…. Custom Hats made for a Feature Film!

DECEMBER 2023

On the set of “A Gambler’s Deal” with actors Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai). Both wearing custom hats I made for their characters in the movie

I didn’t mind being hugged by two tall, handsome, famous actors sporting my handmade hats too much

Day 2 Me and Martin Kove (Cobra Kai), Jesse’s dad. Another stellar guy who loved his hat and in just a brief 15 minute encounter, regaled me with a few fun stories while puffing on a cigar and seriously looking like he lives the part he was playing on his ranch out west that he told me about. He was also kind enough to send me signed photos thanking me for the hat. I could tell where Jesse got his manners from. He’s the kind of guy I’d like to hang out with having a bourbon and listening to his stories

Terry Kiser (Weekend at Bernie’s) and I on the set of “A Gambler’s Deal” with his custom hat I made for his character “The Devil”.

Terry was the nicest man and couldn’t say enough about how happy and impressed he was with his hat. All the actors on the set insisted on keeping their hats for their personal collection, which was really awesome and made me feel good about the work I’d done on the 4 hats for the movie. Terry said he doesn’t do much online but that anything I wanted to write about the hat and myself and put his name to it I could. I don’t really need to make anything up, I suppose just quoting him on that free reign with which he entrusted me says it all

Jesse Kove, son of Martin Kove, (both of Cobra Kai fame) was such a gentleman! What a kind and considerate young man. It was really fun and interesting to be on a movie set for the first time in my life and get to see how it all works. The crew and actors were so kind in putting up with the photo ops of this little ‘ol designer / hat maker. I have worked in theater in my career doing costumes, set design, etc. but this was the first time a feature film has entered my amazing path of opportunities.

And I have this guy to thank for this amazing opportunity ➡ Shane Doyle, who played the piano man in the bar and is friends with the writer / director. He’s Hance’s “brother from another mother” and get set me up with this amazing gig.

“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
